About My Practice
Rebecca Medina is a family law attorney who focuses her practice on settlement and non-litigated alternatives to the traditional family law litigation system. The focus from litigation to alternative dispute resolution processes evolved after years of seeing families emotionally and financially devastated by litigation and the inefficiency of the family court system. Litigation often leaves spouses feeling helpless and the process is even more damaging if children are involved.
As a collaborative law attorney, Rebecca utilizes her legal skills and collaborative training to guide clients through a non-litigation model in which they can avoid court, become educated through the process, and make decisions with their spouse in a caring, private, and respectful manner. She believes the collaborative process provides the best possible framework for both spouses to find creative solutions and make positive and goal–oriented decisions with the support and expertise of the collaborative team they work with.
Collaborative practice allows both spouses to feel empowered by transferring the decision-making power from the Court to the two individuals most closely affected by them. For people who want their divorce proceedings to actually begin the healing process for the entire family, collaborative divorce can be one of the healthiest options.
